A playful interface sits on top of serious rules. Here's how we protect owners, sponsors and the money in between.
Verification
- Every bill is reviewed by a person before it can be sponsored. A Verified badge only appears after that review.
- For supported utilities, we confirm the outstanding amount with the biller through regulated bill-payment infrastructure.
- Automated text extraction pre-fills details for reviewers. It is never treated as proof that a bill is genuine.
- Duplicate and near-duplicate documents are detected and flagged.
Privacy
- Original bills are kept in private, encrypted storage that's never publicly reachable.
- Public previews are redacted on our servers, never just covered up in your browser.
- Location is shown at city level only.
- Notifications never include bill contents or personal details.
Money
- Swiping never charges you. Payment requires an explicit confirmation.
- Payments are processed by a licensed payment provider. We never see or store your card details.
- OnlyBills doesn't hold funds, run a wallet or create withdrawable balances.
- Payment results are verified on our servers with the provider, never trusted from the browser alone.
- A bill can't be oversponsored. Our database enforces this, not just the app.
Fraud and abuse
- Verified email is required to list or sponsor. New accounts have conservative limits.
- Self-sponsorship and suspicious sponsor–owner patterns are blocked or reviewed.
- Anyone can report a bill. Reports are reviewed by our team and every admin action is audit-logged.
